Psycho-educational Evaluations
Cognitive Assessment: These tests measure how well your child thinks, remembers, and solves problems; Executive Function: These tests measure a child's ability to plan ahead, use logical thinking, act in accordance with hypotheses, checking one’s behavior (self-monitoring) and flexibly changing one’s hypotheses or actions; Psychomotor Development and Perception: These tests measure how a student receives, perceives and interprets information through hearing, sight, and touch. These tests may also measure visual-motor skills.; Academic Achievement: These assessments measure reading, spelling, arithmetic, oral and written language skills, and/or general knowledge; Social-Emotional Functioning: These assessments will indicate how a child feels about him/herself, gets along with others, takes care of personal needs at home, school and in the community; Adaptive Functioning: These assessments indicate how your child takes care of personal needs at home, school and in the community.
Comprehensive Psycho-Educational Assessments include review of relevant records; interviews with parents, student; observations within the testing environment, and observations within the educational setting (if made available); rating scales are distributed and collected from all relevant sources which may include parents, student, and teachers. All assessments, and subsequent meetings are completed at my office.
Functional Behavioral Assessment
Does your student struggle with social skills, inattention, hyperactivity, defiance, or aggression. I can help establish a plan to help you understand your student’s behavior challenges.
Giftedness Testing
Cognitive Assessment: These tests measure how well a child thinks, remembers, and solves problems.
This type of assessment is meant to provide families with their child's Intelligence Quotient (IQ) score. This assessment is most often used for entrance into private schools requiring IQ testing as part of their admissions process.
Behavioral Intervention PLans
Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) are plans designed to reward and reinforce positive behaviors at school. These plans are individualized to specifically support the school staff in supporting the student in extinguishing a targeted behavior challenge.
School Neuropsychological Evaluations
School Neuropsychological evaluations are conducted by a trained professional to evaluate unique needs beyond the scope of the typical learning disability. A school neuropsychological evaluation consists of evaluations in multiple areas of including intelligence, memory, language, attention, visuo-spatial, executive functions, processing speed, behavior, academic achievement and mood and personality. School Neuropsychological evaluations provide detailed information of strengths and weaknesses, which typically take more sessions to complete then the standard psychoeducational evaluation.
Parent Support and Consultation Services
I can support you with understanding your student’s unique needs. What is an IEP, 504 Plan, BIP, accommodation, goals, and how will these educational support support my child? These are common questions parents have and it is important to be well prepared and know the answers to each one. Parent support provides you with knowledge and the skills to help support your child’s educational journey. Counseling Services
Children, adolescents and young adults face challenges with learning, self-esteem, building and keeping friendships, making difficult decisions, managing emotions and/or using coping skills. In addition, cultural and diversity can impact these challenges. Counseling services are designed to assist those to access and benefit from their education and to improve overall mental health.
